Best Wishes for the Holiday Season from Our Family to Yours.
I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been reading my blog over the last 9 months. I am thoroughly enjoying chronicling our family's travels and getting to know so many of you who are as passionate about traveling with your kids as I am. Looking forward to much more in 2012.
We will be on the road much of the next couple of weeks so the best way to follow along is by liking our FACEBOOK PAGE or by following me on TWITTER.
I wrote a guest post for the Travel Mamas website describing a Canadian destination that our family likes to visit in each season. Head over to Travel Mamas to read Canada For All Seasons and leave a comment about your favourite Canadian destination.

While on vacation in San Diego over the holidays in 2010 our family spent a day at Legoland California where we were completely charmed by the Christmas-themed LEGO creations.
Christmas has always been my favourite holiday so when my husband and I first started traveling together it seemed quite natural to start collecting ornaments for our tree from each place that we visited. We have continued this tradition for about 18 years now and our children have become enthusiastic Christmas ornament shoppers. Sometimes finding an ornament can be quite difficult and we improvise with key chains or anything that we can find that represents the area and can have a string attached to it so that it can be hung from a branch.
For the past few years my husband and I have given our daughters a trip as a Christmas gift. I wrap up clues and, as they open them, they try and figure out where they might be going. Our post-Christmas trip in 2010 was to San Diego where the only theme parks that I had planned on visiting were the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and Legoland. Within about a half an hour of unwrapping their present, however, it occurred to my very excited kids that Disneyland was in California. I had always harboured a secret desire to see Disney at Christmas time so it didn't take long for them to get me on side and we were soon discussing the possibility of taking a road trip to Disney.
For quite some time I have been dreaming about visiting a traditional European Christmas Market. It's highly unlikely that this will happen anytime soon though since the reality of having school-age kids means that we aren't able to travel in early December. Early last week, however, I was delighted to discover that there is a Christmas market practically in my own backyard.
It doesn't matter where we go, if there is a fountain in the vicinity then Emma is drawn to it like a moth to a flame. This is what happened when we boarded the Celebrity Equinox and discovered the spraying fountains near the pool.
I have been reading the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith since the first installment was published back in 1998. This charming series is set in Gaborone, Botswana and chronicles the adventures of lady detective Precious Ramotswe, her erstwhile assistant, Grace Makutsi and an assortment of other characters who are part of their lives and community.
