We traveled to Orlando over the New Year's holiday last year and, apart from a brief visit to the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, spent the better part of a week at Disney World. Each of the parks was decked out for the holidays and the festive atmosphere made for an even more magical experience.
It had long been a dream of mine to visit Disney during the Christmas holiday season and I finally had the opportunity two years ago when we spent New Year's Day at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. This was followed by a six day visit to Disney World in Orlando between Christmas and New Year's last year where I was able to completely soak up the Disney holiday spirit.
While visiting Paris for spring break we took the train to Disneyland and had a great day checking out the unique attractions and comparing the parks to Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.
One of the attractions that Katie and I enjoyed the most was Phantom Manor. It's similar to Haunted Mansion at Disney World but there are enough differences to make it interesting to contrast the two.
If there is one thing that Disney excels at it's telling a compelling story. Whether it's putting a new twist on an old classic or weaving an original tale there is a special magic in the storytelling that Disney brings to life on screen. On a recent family visit to Disneyland Paris, we enjoyed the park's tribute to this rich tradition of storytelling.
The theme for Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday this week is Food and Drink. Now I love to eat but I rarely think to photograph anything before it's consumed and my memory is rather short so it's not likely that I would be able to describe a meal with any degree of accuracy after the fact. I can say with a fair amount of certainty that I have had a number of delicious meals at lovely restaurants while visiting Disney World - there just won't be many details forthcoming.
The theme for Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday this week is Magical Memories. Any Disney experience seems bound to produce the most magical of memories but, upon reflection, our favourite memories all seem to involve interactions with the characters at the three Disney parks that we have visited and on the Disney Cruise.
The theme for Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday this week is The Letter 'C' which immediately brings to my mind an image of Castaway Cay, Disney's private Bahamian island. Castaway Cay is a tropical paradise reserved exclusively for the use of Disney Cruise Line's passengers and is one of the most popular ports on it's Bahamian and Caribbean cruises.
The theme for Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday this week is Disney Weenies. I had no idea what that meant but it turns out that Walt Disney and his team of imagineers coined the phrase "Weenies" for the iconic structures which are focal points in each of the parks or lands.
