This has been the longest winter in the memory of most people in the Toronto area. Thanks to the Polar Vortex, the City of Toronto has issued 35 Extreme Cold Weather Alerts and one snow storm after another has resulted in a record-breaking 100 consecutive days with snow on the ground.
My favourite family tradition is the post-Christmas getaway that we gift ourselves each year. This past year, we left cold and snowy Toronto on December 27th to fly to Fort Lauderdale for a holiday cruise aboard the Crown Princess. Our first port of call was Princess Cays in the Bahamas.
My 10 year-old daughter and I recently visited Beaches Resortin Negril, Jamaica - a family resort with endless entertaining activities. The most memorable part of our stay, however, wasn't the water slides or the sandy beach but our visit to a local school.
A recent stay at Beaches Negril Resort & Spa was my first experience with an all-inclusive resort and, to be quite honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had decided years ago that all-inclusive wouldn't be my style of family vacation but Beaches Negril proved to me how short-sighted I had been.
I recently had the opportunity to visitBeaches Negril Resort & Spa, an all-inclusive resort located on Negril's Seven Mile Beach in Jamaica. The resort is a popular getaway destination for families, especially those in Canada that want to escape the northern winter for sunshine and fun.
Our family recently went on a holiday cruise on the Disney Magic in the Caribbean. Apart from the fact that the ship left from Galveston, Texas instead of Port Canaveral, Florida, it was essentially a repeat of our very first cruise nearly 7 years earlier.
The theme for Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday this week is The Letter 'C' which immediately brings to my mind an image of Castaway Cay, Disney's private Bahamian island. Castaway Cay is a tropical paradise reserved exclusively for the use of Disney Cruise Line's passengers and is one of the most popular ports on it's Bahamian and Caribbean cruises.
