I read about this free on-line itinerary planning service called "Plnnr - Your Personal Tour Guide" (www.plnnr.com) on the Budget Travel website and decided to check it out. Plnnr creates free automatic plans for travel within major cities by collecting up-to-date information from on line sources and using scoring algorithms to determine the best places for its users to visit. Thus far, the website has 20 cities that it will provide itineraries for (16 European and 4 North American).
Today the Toronto Globe and Mail's Travel section made reference to a website that posts information on the best places to eat, drink and sleep in a number of cities. I had a look at the site and found it to be quite interesting. Virtual GDBK ("guidebook in futurese") purports to provide hot, local source material for you to plan your trip. The editors of the website compile a comprehensive list of on-line resources about a destination including blogs, recent travel stories, local listings and more. There is also a blog where the editors provide their opinions about a city.
