Once again, technology has got the better of me. On Sunday afternoon my computer's hard drive died. The computer was only three months old so it's demise was a bit premature and caught me off-guard. All my data seems to be fine on my external backup drive so, thankfully, I haven't lost any of my photos which is always my biggest worry when something goes wrong with the computer. The computer is still under warranty which is a relief, however, it also means that it has to be returned to Hewlett Packard for repair or replacement of the hard drive. Estimated date of return of computer – three weeks. Aaargh!!!
The thought of having to go three weeks without a computer floored me. I can check email and Facebook from my phone or my iPad but completing blog posts is a little more difficult. I'm attempting to get everything up and running on an old laptop, however, access to my photos is my biggest problem right now. I consulted a Geek Squad guy at Best Buy and he thinks the laptop's hard drive is close to death as well and that trying to transfer my entire database of photos over to it may finish it off. So at this point I'm trying to come up with an ad hoc solution in order to complete some of the posts that I had in the works and cursing myself for not having had the foresight to upload photos into the posts sooner.
I truly appreciate each and every person who takes the time to read my blog and I didn't want to disappear for three weeks without any explanation. Thank you for your understanding and hopefully I will be able to provide some new reading material soon.
In the meantime, I will still be active on our Facebook page when I'm not sending out good thoughts to the universe in hopes that my computer will return to me much sooner than expected. I will also be busy planning our March trip to Paris and finalizing the details on some of the other travels that we have planned for the year. Stay tuned!
