A Disney Wordless Wednesday post with the theme of nature.
In celebration of the upcoming Earth Day the Disney (Almost) Wordless Wednesday theme this week is nature. The first place that comes to mind when I think of Disney and nature is Animal Kingdom, the Orlando theme park which is centred around Disney's dedication to nature and conservation. Animal Kingdom, which takes up about 500 acres of land, is the largest animal themed park in the world with more than 1700 animals representing 250 species.
I spent my last birthday with my family at Animal Kingdom and we arrived at the park early and headed directly to my favourite attraction – the Kilimanjaro Safari which departs from the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. We were fortunate that we had a pleasant day and there were a lot of animals out enjoying the morning sunshine thus providing me with the opportunity to take lots of great photos (and a nice birthday bonus). These are a few of my favourites.
Thanks to Deb at Focused on the Magic for hosting Disney Wordless Wednesday.

Great shots! I always love the Safari.

I love the safari too – and your photo of the giraffes greeting each other is fabulous! Have you ever done with Wild Africa Trek?
Katrina Harris
I can’t tell if you are moderating messages or if the internets ate my comment 🙂
So…sorry if this is a repeat!
I love the safari, too. Though it’s tough to argue with my children who always want to do Everest first. We get excited when we have to stop for a long time due to meandering animals. We were stuck for almost 10 minutes once because of Rhinos!
Have you ever done the Wild Africa Trek?
Mary @ The World Is A Book
Love the pictures! The giraffe shot is my favorite. We haven’t been to Animal Kingdom yet but this looks very similar to the San Diego Safari Park. So cool!
Steve
You got to the park early? With Katie? It must have been your birthday if your teenager got up before noon. Nicely played.
And nice pictures.
Artur
Cool! ytour shots are really amazing! love animals as well as Safari!
Goody

Katrina, sorry about the problem with comments. I figured out last week how to change my settings so that I can reply directly below comments and ever since commenters have been having difficulty. I think I’ll have to turn off the moderation and see if that helps.
Haven’t been on the Wild Africa Trek but I’ve seen photos and I don’t think it’s for me. I have a bit of a thing with heights and wobbly bridges so I’m pretty sure it would freak me out!

Thanks, Mary! We missed the San Diego Safari Park when we visited – one day of rain completely messed up my schedule! 🙂 That will be a priority next time.
Lisa Goodmurphy
Katie can get up when there’s a carrot or a stick involved. In this case we were going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter the next day – but not if she messed up my safari ride by refusing to get out of bed on Animal Kingdom day!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Artur!!

Thank you!!

I love Animal Kingdom Lodge! We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for my husband’s birthday last year & went to Animal Kingdom park too.
Beth

Lisa Goodmurphy
Thank you!!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Debs! We’ve been on the safari a number of times and I think this was the only time that we had a good view of the lions!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks – we’ve been on the safari a few times as well and I don’t think we had such a good view of the lions any of the other times. It probably helped that it was the end of December instead of mid-March – much cooler in the morning.
Lisa Goodmurphy
We haven’t stayed there yet but I’ve heard it’s amazing. It must be really cool to look out your window and see African animals grazing!
Lisa Goodmurphy
Thanks, Beth!!

Thanks, Debs! I had made some changes to the formatting of comments a few days earlier and it seemed to have caused some problems. Hoping I’ve got it all sorted out!
