Review of Little Luxe City Guides for Hong Kong and Singapore.
People that are traveling with kids have different needs than adults traveling on their own and standard guidebooks often don't provide the exact details that they require. For this reason, I get very excited when I find guidebooks that have been written expressly for families. Luxe City Guides is well-known for its hip pocket-sized city guides that are based on the recommendations of locals and collated by a resident editor. The brand is now extending its line to include a series of Little Luxe City Guides (created in partnership with Little Steps Asia) which will provide readers with everything they need to know in order to "go glam with the fam…".
These are pocket-sized guides for families on the go who are looking for a little luxury in their travels. The guides provide an overview of general information about the city and family-friendly luxurious hotel recommendations as well as suggestions for restaurants, activities, and shopping that are organized by city neighbourhood. All of this information is packed into a folded guide that can fit easily into a small purse. The guides are aimed at the luxury travel segment so if you're a budget traveler or a backpacker then these probably aren't the books for you.
If I was heading to a Little Luxe city then I would definitely bring a copy along as a supplemental guide. This guide couldn't replace the comprehensive book with photos and extensive information that I would want for planning purposes, however, it's a great reference to have in your purse or pocket as your family explores a city. If you're part of the over 40 crowd like I am then you will want to make sure that you have a pair of reading glasses in your pocket as well – a pocket-sized guide packed with information means very small print.
There are currently Little Luxe guides for Hong Kong and Singapore. Our family hasn't visited either of these cities yet but when we do I can definitely see myself popping one of these handy little guides into my handbag before hitting the streets in either city. Hopefully this series will soon expand to include a few more international cities as well.
Little Luxe provided me with copies of these books for the purposes of review but did not request that any particular opinion be expressed. My opinions are, as always, my own.
