A giveaway of product from Sunuva worth £100.
We have a history of skin cancer in our family so I have been very concerned about sun exposure since my girls were tiny babies. When they were quite little I was able to find UV protective cover ups for them (though not exactly fashionable) but it became impossible to find UV protective swimwear that they wanted to wear as they grew older. I recently heard about the Sunuva line of kids UV swimwear and beachwear and was immediately impressed by how stylish it was.
The Story of Sunuva
Sunuva was started by two British mothers who were frustrated by the lack of stylish UV protective children’s swimwear available. The two set out on a mission to create a swimwear and beachwear line that was not only attractive but would protect kids from the sun. In the few years since the first collection was launched, Sunuva has received major press coverage, a strong celebrity following, is stocked in major department stores such as Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Barneys and is available in independent boutiques around the world as well as in luxury resorts such as The Four Seasons and The One & Only. The Sunuva line is also available online.
It is common knowledge that skin cancer is on the rise in general as a result of climate change and the thinning ozone layer but it is surprising to learn that it is now a common cancer in young people between the ages of 12-24. These statistics drive home the importance of practicing safe sun care with children in order to protect them from irreversible skin damage. Children should wear protective swim wear/clothing, water resistant sunblock should be applied to exposed areas when playing in the sun, and the sun should be avoided between noon and 3pm when the rays are the strongest.
The Sunuva line of swimwear is made from quick dry fabric which has a UPF rating of 50+ meaning it blocks out more than 97% of the sun’s harmful rays. The product has also been validated by the British Skin Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to skin research.
Sunuva offers a great line of stylish swimwear and beachwear for both boys and girls starting at sizes 1-2 years and going up to sizes 13-14 years. The line includes float suits, rash vests and swimsuits as well as shorts, t-shirts, dresses, kaftans, towelling hoodies, espadrilles and accessories. I loved all of the prints and was pleased to see that the size range includes tween and young teen girls as I have never before been able to find UV protective swimwear designed for older kids.
Even more importantly though, my 11 year-old daughter loved many of the prints and had a hard time choosing one outfit. She eventually settled on the Girls Tribal Bikini and Girls Tribal Swim Short. The items were delivered just a few days later and Emma is as pleased as could be with her choices.
