A photo from our family travels in Provence that reminds me that sometimes we need to slow down for the littlest members of the family.
This is one of my favourite photos from our family trip to Provence, France last August. It was a smoldering hot Provençal afternoon and we were making the steep climb to the village of Oppède-le-Vieux for the incredible views of the Luberon Valley. We were nearly to the top when Emma spotted a ledge and simply sat down – too tired to go any farther. When I look at this picture it reminds me that, as hard as she tries to keep up, my baby is still just a little girl and sometimes we have to slow our pace for her. And sometimes our nicest memories result when we pause along the way instead of rushing to where we think we're heading.

i love that she’s still smiling. often, kids who are that tired of climbing and walking don’t look like that (at least mine doesn’t!)> beautiful!

Fantastic advice for all us traveling moms. I constantly have to remind myself to slow down the pace. If we don’t see it all it’s OK. When I do slow down, we tend to have the best time and most memorable experiences.
PS- I love the skirt she is wearing! Simply adorable in Provence!

Thanks! Fortunately for us, Emma is quite easygoing. Not sure if it’s just her nature or if it’s due to the fact that she’s 7 years younger than her older sister and we’ve been hauling her around since she was a wee babe. 🙂

Thanks! Emma did some shopping while she was in Provence – she’ll be happy to know someone commented on her outfit! 🙂

It’s really a beautiful photo, and I love the backstory. She’ll remember this for a long time!

Lovely photo with a lovely story. Smiling posed shots have their place, but there’s something special about the memories that go along with real-life moments like this.
